Nitish Kumar Gifts Rs. 514 Crore Projects to Kishanganj During Pragati Yatra
Kishanganj: In the third phase of Pragati Yatra, Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 236 developmental projects worth Rs. 514.28 crore in Kishanganj district. The event took place at the newly constructed District Emergency Response Facility-cum-Training Center in Maheshbthana. Projects worth Rs. 151.17 crore were inaugurated, while the foundation stones for schemes worth Rs. 363.09 crore were laid remotely.
Nitish Kumar inspected the proposed Thakurganj bypass road at Kathaldangi village in Thakurganj block, directing officials to expedite construction. The 4.01 km-long and 10-meter-wide bypass, estimated at Rs. 41.30 crore, aims to enhance connectivity and ease commuting for the locals. Officials also briefed him about the widening and strengthening of State Highway 39, the 65.35 km road under Purnia and Kishanganj, and the construction of the Asura-Nishnadra Ghat bridge with its approach road.
At Kathaldangi, he reviewed the pond built under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan and instructed the construction of a stepped ghat around it for public convenience. Visiting stalls set up by various departments, Nitish Kumar distributed benefits under schemes like Abhiyan Basera-02, Chief Minister Minority Student Incentive Scheme, Chief Minister Divyangjan Empowerment Chhatra Yojana, and Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme. Among the inaugurated projects were public toilets, cattle shelters, and the Pateshwari Welcome Gate.
In Halamla Gram Panchayat, Motihari, Nitish Kumar examined the Adarsh Gram Panchayat model, inaugurating various buildings like a playground, lake, and waste management unit. Commending the well-constructed lake, he suggested adding stairs for better accessibility. He engaged with self-help groups, praising their transformation under Jeevika. He recounted how, since 2005, loans from the World Bank have strengthened women’s economic standing through self-help groups, now branded Jeevika Didis.
Nitish Kumar also inspected stalls by the Health, Education, Industry, Agriculture, Transport, and Child Development departments. He provided Rs. 137 crore to 11,486 self-help groups, Rs. 14.33 crore to 2,305 groups, and Rs. 5.40 crore to 306 groups under livelihood schemes. A cheque of Rs. 4 lakh was also presented under the Chief Minister Chaur Vikas Yojana, and keys were distributed to beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Block Transport Scheme.
The newly constructed Govardhan Plant was inaugurated, with the Chief Minister inspecting its functioning and handing over sanitation keys to Jeevika Didis. Tea gardens allocated to Jeevika Didis for livelihood enhancement under the Chaur Vikas Yojana were also reviewed.
Nitish Kumar unveiled the plaque for a footover bridge costing Rs. 318.68 lakh at Deramari Minority Residential School in Kochadhaman. Interacting with students, he encouraged them to focus on their education and acknowledged their educational projects displayed at stalls.
The event witnessed the presence of senior leaders and officials, including Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Jama Khan, Neeraj Kumar Singh, Izhar Ul Hussain, Saud Alam, Mohammad Naushad Alam, Master Mujahid Alam, Gopal Kumar Agarwal, Rukaiya Begum, Irshadullah, S. Siddharth, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Kumar Ravi, Rajesh Kumar, Pramod Kumar Mandal, Deepak Barnwal, Shirshat Kapil Ashok, Himanshu Sharma, Vishal Raj, and Sagar Kumar.
