Nitish Kumar Pushes Forward Purnia Airport Project and Inaugurates Park Beautification in Kajha
Purnia: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Purnia on Saturday, arriving at Chunapur airfield around noon to review the progress of key infrastructure projects in the region. His visit centered on two main objectives: expediting the construction of Purnia airport and laying the foundation stone for the beautification of Kajha Kothi Park.
CM Nitish began his visit with a meeting at the Chunapur airfield, where he discussed the Purnia Airport Civil Enclave project with officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and local representatives. The meeting, which lasted about 25 minutes, focused on removing hurdles and speeding up construction work to bring air service to the region, a long-awaited development promised in the 2015 Prime Minister’s package. The absence of air connectivity has left many in Seemanchal disappointed, and the Chief Minister emphasized the urgency of the project, directing officials from Delhi to Patna to prioritize its completion.
Following the meeting, Nitish traveled under tight security to Kajha Kothi, where he paid tribute to Bhola Paswan Shastri, the three-time Chief Minister of Bihar, by garlanding his statue. He then laid the foundation stone for the beautification of Kajha Kothi Park, a project led by the Tourism Department with significant investment aimed at transforming the area into a tourist attraction. The planned Kajha Haat, modeled after Delhi Haat, is expected to be a key feature of this development.
During his brief visit to Kajha, the Chief Minister also inspected ongoing construction work before departing for Patna by helicopter from a nearby sports ground helipad.
