Nitish Kumar to Attend Maharashtra CM Swearing-in Ceremony Tomorrow

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to leave for Mumbai tomorrow to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra’s new Chief Minister. JDU’s acting national president, Sanjay Jha, is also likely to accompany him on the visit.

Devendra Fadnavis

The BJP Legislature Party has selected Devendra Fadnavis as its leader, with Chandrakant Patil and Sudhir Mungantiwar proposing his name and Pankaja Munde supporting it. Following the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance—comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Pawar group)—secured a massive majority, winning 230 seats.

Under the power-sharing formula, Devendra Fadnavis will serve as Chief Minister alongside two deputy CMs. Leaders from the BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena are expected to take oath, with 19 BJP members, 7 NCP members, and 5 Shiv Sena members anticipated to join the new cabinet.

After the government is sworn in, the Maharashtra legislature will hold its winter session in Nagpur from 16 to 21 December. Before this, a special session for the swearing-in of newly elected MLAs will take place in Mumbai on 7 and 9 December.
