Nitish Kumar’s Cabinet Meeting Today, No-Confidence Motion Against Assembly Speaker
Patna: In a swift political turn of events, the newly formed National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar is set to hold its first cabinet meeting today, with speculations rife about an imminent expansion of the cabinet. Chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the meeting is scheduled to commence at 11:30 am, and key figures such as Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha are expected to be in attendance. One of the significant agenda items is the approval of the proposal to convene a session of the Bihar Legislature.
The political landscape in Bihar witnessed its first major action from the ruling party immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of CM Nitish and his cabinet. Nand Kishore Yadav of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted a notice of a no-confidence motion against Assembly Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary to the Assembly Secretary. The notice asserts that the House has lost confidence in Speaker Avadh Bihari Chaudhary following the ascent of the new government to power.
CM Nitish, who took the oath of office for the ninth time on Sunday evening, was administered the oath by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The cabinet, featuring Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha, reflects a strategic move by the ruling party, with Sinha having previously served as the leader of the opposition in the Grand Alliance government.
As the NDA government sets the stage for its initial cabinet meeting, the political atmosphere in Bihar remains charged with anticipation over potential developments and the future course of the legislative session. The unfolding events mark a dynamic start to the new government’s tenure, with both the cabinet expansion and the no-confidence motion against the Speaker capturing the attention of political observers across the state.
