Operation Sindoor: Flight Disruptions Across North India After Armed Forces Strike Terror Camps in Pakistan, PoJK

New Delhi, 7th May 2025: Flight operations across several cities in North and West India have been severely impacted after the Indian Armed Forces carried out targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
All flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot have been cancelled until 12 noon on May 7, according to airline sources. The temporary suspension comes in the wake of heightened security and airspace management following the military operation.
Airlines have issued advisories requesting passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Passengers are also advised to plan their travel accordingly, as more delays and cancellations may follow depending on the evolving situation.
Air India Cancels Multiple Flights, Diverts Two International Routes
Air India confirmed the suspension of operations to and from nine cities—Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot—until further notice from authorities. Additionally, two international flights bound for Amritsar have been diverted to Delhi, the airline said.
“In view of the current security scenario, Air India is taking precautionary measures as advised,” the airline added in a statement.
IndiGo Flights Also Affected
Budget carrier IndiGo announced that its operations to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and Bikaner have been impacted by changing airspace conditions. While not all flights have been cancelled, passengers may experience delays or rescheduling.
This disruption follows India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a calibrated military response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. While the operation targeted terror camps, no Pakistani military facilities were hit, reflecting a deliberate, restrained approach.
