‘Our Doors Are Open’: Lalu Softens Stance on Nitish But Tejashwi Rules Out Re- Alliance

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad has extended an olive branch to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, suggesting that reconciliation remains a possibility. Speaking to a private news channel, Lalu stated, “Our doors are open for Nitish Kumar, and he should also keep them open. If he comes, why won’t we take him along? We will work together.”

The remarks come amid contrasting views within the RJD. Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav had earlier dismissed the idea of re- aligning with Nitish, asserting that “the doors are closed.” However, Lalu’s word is considered final in the party, signaling potential shifts in strategy.

Meanwhile, Tejashwi delivered sharp criticism of Nitish while extending New Year greetings. “This is his farewell year,” Tejashwi said, predicting the government’s downfall. “We will form a new government in the new year. Whether it happens before or after elections, only time will tell.”

Tejashwi also outlined his vision for a new Bihar, vowing to address unemployment and migration. “We aim to create a government that prioritizes education, healthcare, income, irrigation, justice, and action. Bureaucratic hurdles will be eliminated, and with the people’s blessings, we will fulfill this resolution,” he declared.

Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, Tejashwi mocked Nitish’s ongoing travels across the state, calling them a “farewell journey.” He added, “If you sow the same brand of seeds for 20 years, both the field and the crop will suffer. The time has come for a new brand of leadership in Bihar.”

The exchanges highlight the growing tension between the two leaders, even as speculation continues over future political alignments in Bihar. For now, Lalu Yadav’s conciliatory tone contrasts sharply with Tejashwi’s aggressive rhetoric, leaving open the question of whether the political equations in the state might change.
