Patna: More than 21,000 newly appointed constables in Bihar have been instructed to report for duty between June 1 and 30 with all necessary documents, the Central Selection Board of Constable Recruitment (CSBC) announced on Friday. Speaking at a press conference at Sardar Patel Bhawan in Patna, CSBC Chairman Jitendra Kumar said the final list of selected candidates for 21,391 posts was released on May 9 and is now available on the board’s official website. All appointees are required to report to their assigned units within the stipulated timeframe.

The recruitment process began in 2023 and included six phases of written examinations conducted in August 2024. This was followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) held in Patna between December 9, 2024 and March 10, 2025. Out of 17.87 lakh registered applicants, nearly 12 lakh candidates appeared for the written test, with just over one lakh qualifying for the PET. A total of 86,539 candidates eventually took part in the physical round. Of the 21,391 selected, 10,205 are men, 11,178 women, and eight are transgender individuals.

The list also includes 30 trained Home Guards and 68 dependents of freedom fighters. Category-wise, the appointments are distributed across general (8,556), economically weaker sections (2,140), backward class (2,570), extremely backward class (3,842), Scheduled Caste (3,400), Scheduled Tribe (228), and 655 women from the backward class category. Out of the total appointees, 19,958 will join the Bihar Police, while 1,433 have been assigned to the Bihar Special Armed Police.
