Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has said the state will fully implement the Indian government’s decision to deport all Pakistani nationals, following the killing of 26 Hindu pilgrims in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Choudhary called the attack “an assault on the soul of India” and said every Pakistani citizen residing in Bihar must leave within 48 hours, with the deadline expiring on April 27. “The brutal killing of 26 Hindu pilgrims in Pahalgam is not just an act of terrorism, it is an attack on the soul of India. The Government of India’s decision to cancel the visas of Pakistani citizens will be strictly implemented in Bihar,” he said. “Those who fail to comply will face strict legal action.”
Choudhary urged political parties to avoid politicising the issue at such a sensitive time, emphasising the need for national unity in the face of tragedy.
He reiterated that Bihar stood firmly behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to eliminating terrorism. “When Prime Minister Modi pledged from Bihar’s soil to end terrorism, Bihar vowed to stand with him every step of the way,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that if Pakistan, by annulling the Shimla Agreement in response to the attack, sought confrontation, it would only strengthen India’s resolve to respond decisively across the border.
