Patliputra-Gorakhpur Express to Get Modern LHB Coaches From March 22

Patna: The East Central Railway has announced that the Patliputra-Gorakhpur-Patliputra Express (train no. 15079/15080) will be upgraded with modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches from March 22, replacing the existing ICF coaches. The move aims to enhance passenger safety and comfort while increasing the train’s capacity from 12 to 19 coaches.
Under the revised rake structure, the train will feature 19 coaches, including one generator-cum-luggage van, one LSLRD, seven general second-class coaches, and 10 reserved chair car coaches. The introduction of LHB coaches is expected to significantly improve the travel experience for passengers on this route.
LHB coaches, made of stainless steel, are lighter, stronger, and equipped with advanced safety features such as CBC couplings, which help prevent derailments and improve overall stability. The upgraded suspension and braking systems further enhance passenger comfort.
With improved interiors, upgraded toilet facilities, and enhanced safety mechanisms, the transition to LHB coaches is part of Indian Railways’ broader push to modernize its services and provide a safer, more comfortable journey for travellers.
