Patna: The Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna has officially commenced operations from its newly constructed terminal from today. This development marks a significant upgrade in the region’s aviation infrastructure, aiming to enhance passenger experience and accommodate increasing air traffic.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29, the state-of-the-art terminal spans 65,150 square meters and is designed to handle up to 10 million passengers annually, a substantial increase from the previous capacity of 2.5 million.
The terminal features modern amenities, including 64 check-in counters, 11 boarding gates, five aerobridges, and advanced security systems. Its architectural design draws inspiration from Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, incorporating elements reminiscent of Nalanda University and Mithila art.
With the transition to the new terminal, all domestic flight operations have been relocated, and the old terminal has ceased operations. Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2-3 hours before departure to accommodate new entry and exit procedures. For assistance, travelers can contact the Duty Terminal Manager at 9471000714.
Enhanced security measures have been implemented, including the deployment of additional police personnel at entry and exit points, to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations during the initial phase.
