Patna Authorities Launch Traffic Overhaul: Bailey Road, Ashok Rajpath, and Kankarbagh Main Road to Get Congestion-Free Makeover

Patna Authorities Launch Traffic Overhaul

Patna: Authorities in Patna have initiated a major plan to tackle traffic congestion, starting with three of the city’s busiest roads—Bailey Road, Ashok Rajpath, and Kankarbagh Main Road (Old Bypass). Based on a recent traffic survey, the project aims to implement long-term solutions to streamline movement and reduce bottlenecks.

The initiative, backed by findings from a comprehensive survey conducted in January, focuses on three key areas: improving road and traffic engineering, launching an anti-encroachment drive, and enhancing traffic management. As part of the plan, all illegal structures along the main roads will be removed, ensuring smoother traffic flow. Officials expect visible changes within a month as the new measures take effect.

The survey was conducted by experts from a Faridabad-based traffic institute, in collaboration with Patna’s traffic DSPs, engineers from the road construction department, and other senior officials. The report, now complete, will soon be presented to the development commissioner for approval.

Once the model proves effective, similar measures will be extended to other major roads in Patna. Eventually, the system is expected to be rolled out in other cities across Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Darbhanga.
