Patna DM directs swift implementation of Metro Rail Project

Patna: Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh has instructed officials to accelerate the implementation of the Patna Metro Rail Project, emphasizing timely execution and effective coordination. Chairing a review meeting at the Collectorate, Dr Singh assessed the project’s progress, discussed challenges, and issued necessary directives.

Highlighting the project’s steady progress, Dr Singh noted that most obstacles have been addressed, with any emerging issues resolved promptly by Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs).

The review covered land acquisition, transfer processes, and ongoing metro works across multiple locations, including Mauza Pahadi, Ranipur, New ISBT, Jaganpura, Ramakrishna Nagar, Mithapur Bioduct, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moinul Haq Station, Rajendra Nagar Station, Depot Site, Khemnichak, Bhootnath, Patna Metro Yard, Rajabazar, Patna Junction, Ruknpura, and Patna Zoo.

For the Metro Rail Depot in Ranipur and Pahadi Mauza, a total of 75.9 acres has been acquired, with compensation of Rs. 255.93 crore distributed to 268 raiyats. An additional Rs. 124.72 crore has been deposited with the authorities, and officials were instructed to expedite payments for remaining landholders.

Dr Singh also confirmed that land acquisition for stations like Mithapur Bioduct and New ISBT has been completed, and possession handed over to the requisitioning department. Structures obstructing the Mithapur Bioduct Station site were removed earlier this year on July 29.

The District Magistrate reviewed progress on six underground metro stations under Package PC-03, being constructed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). These stations include Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moinul Haq Stadium, and Rajendra Nagar. Officials were directed to relocate any structures hindering the project using standard procedures.

Dr Singh urged strict adherence to safety protocols and pollution control measures during construction, directing sub-divisional officers to monitor compliance. He also emphasized informing the public in advance about traffic diversions through newspapers and other channels to minimize disruptions.

“The Patna Metro Rail Project will not only provide a modern public transport system but will also reduce traffic congestion and ease the burden on existing infrastructure,” Dr Singh said, reiterating the administration’s commitment to completing the project efficiently.

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, ensuring work progresses in line with the master plan and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The District Magistrate called for timely and diligent execution to deliver world-class urban transport facilities for Patna residents.
