Patna DM Inspects Progress of Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor and Kanhauli Bus Terminal Projects
Patna: District Magistrate (DM) Dr Chandrashekhar Singh conducted an inspection today of the ongoing construction work for the Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor and the land acquisition efforts for the Kanhauli Bus Terminal. During the visit, he instructed officials to relocate structures obstructing the corridor in accordance with regulations, identify alternative sites for affected schools, lawfully remove encroachments, expedite compensation payments, and ensure steady progress in the construction.
The inspection was attended by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Danapur), the Additional Collector, the Project Director of NHAI, the District Land Acquisition Officer, and several other officials.
DM Singh expressed satisfaction with the overall progress of the works and noted that regional officers are promptly resolving any minor issues as they arise. He directed the Sub-Divisional Officer of Danapur to closely monitor the removal of encroachments, relocation of affected structures, and progress in land acquisition and construction efforts.
The District Magistrate first visited Ghanshyam Girls High School in Khagaul, part of which falls within the alignment of the elevated corridor. Six rooms spanning three floors may need to be demolished. Singh emphasised that the education of the 1,400 girls from nearby areas, including Neura, Khagaul, and Sadisopur, should not be disrupted by the construction. He instructed officials to ensure that both the school’s operations and the construction work proceed without hindrance. The Sub-Divisional Officer was tasked with exploring all possible options, including the possibility of relocating the school. Singh inspected a vacant field behind the school and government land near the DRM office as potential relocation sites, directing officials to submit proposals promptly.
Following this, the District Magistrate visited the old office of the Nagar Parishad in Khagaul, which lies in the path of the corridor. He ordered the Municipal Executive Officer to vacate the building within a week and relocate vehicles and materials stored there. Temporary facilities will be established on nearby government land, with the Sub-Divisional Officer directed to demolish the structure thereafter.
The DM also instructed the NHAI Project Director to explore relocating or expanding vertically the Higher Secondary School in Sarari and the Middle School in Makhdumpur, Sarari, both of which are affected by the project. He emphasised that the teaching should not be interrupted, nor should the progress of the project.
Encroachments in the areas of Dariyapur, Usri Khurd Kothiya, and Mahadevpur Phulari will also be removed in accordance with legal procedures, Singh ordered.
The District Magistrate underscored the significance of the Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor, calling it a vital public-interest project that will significantly ease travel between Patna and Bihta. The project is expected to be completed within two years. Singh assured that the district administration is providing full support to NHAI, with land acquisition already completed across 22 villages. A total of 104 acres has been acquired, with Rs. 131.82 crore disbursed to 622 farmers. He also called for swift payment of any remaining compensation for land and structures.
Efforts are underway to manage alternative traffic routes during the construction phase.
