Patna DM Reviews Chhath Preparations at Sun Temple, Emphasizes Security and Medical Facilities for Devotees
Patna: Preparations for Chhath Mahaparva are underway in Patna, with District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar and SSP Rajiv Mishra inspecting the arrangements at the ancient Sun Temple in Ular village, Dulhin Bazaar. They provided directives to the temple committee and officials to ensure smooth management of the large crowd expected to gather for the festival.
Chhath attracts thousands of devotees to Ular village, including pilgrims from various states, seeking blessings at the Sun Temple. In anticipation of the crowd, strong security measures are planned, with police and SDRF teams on-site. Essential amenities, including toilets, medical camps, and a district control room, will be available to address any needs of the devotees.
The Sun Temple, one of India’s 12 major Sun temples, is revered for its belief in healing leprosy through a bath in the temple’s Kund (sacred pond). During Chhath, devotees crowd the village for four days, although it lacks formal lodging facilities. To accommodate visitors, villagers open their homes, providing rooms for those arriving for the festival.
Known for its blessings on fertility, the temple draws devotees year-round, many of whom seek children or healing from ailments. A longstanding tradition holds that bathing in the temple’s Kund and offering water to Lord Surya can bring relief from diseases, including leprosy, for those who worship with true devotion.
