Patna: Friends’ Kedarnath Trip Turns Deadly as Money Dispute Leads to Murder
Patna: A tragic altercation over money related to a recent Kedarnath trip resulted in the death of Manish Kumar, who was allegedly beaten to death by his friend Sunny Kumar in Vishanpura village, Bihta. Following the incident, Sunny and his family fled the village. The dispute reportedly arose over an amount of ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 connected to their trip.
The altercation occurred near the Thakurbari in the village late on Tuesday night. Manish Kumar Mishra, a resident of Simaria in Buxar district, was visiting his maternal grandmother’s house in Vishanpura when he was attacked. Witnesses reported that Sunny and his accomplices assaulted Manish, leaving him unconscious. Local residents rushed him to ESIC Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Thirteen days prior to the incident, Manish shared a photo on Facebook with Sunny and their friends, reflecting on the changes in their relationships and expressing feelings of betrayal. Manish, who ran a chowmein shop in Bihta, seemed to hint at the brewing conflict between him and his friends. His maternal grandfather, Umanand Pandey, stated that the altercation was over money and called for justice for his grandson.
Bihta police have registered a case against Sunny Kumar based on the statement from Manish’s grandfather. The body has been sent for postmortem examination, and the Patna FSL team has been informed to assist with the investigation. As the search for the accused continues, the community mourns the loss of a young life over a senseless dispute.
