Patna Heatwave Strains Electricity Supply, Residents Face Frequent Outages
Patna: The ongoing severe heatwave in Patna has led to a surge in electricity consumption, putting immense strain on the city’s power supply system. Over 150 11 KV feeders are currently overloaded, resulting in frequent and unplanned power cuts across various neighbourhoods.
The protection cable of the Digha grid caught fire at 10:49 am on Wednesday. Though grid workers were quick in extinguishing the fire, several residential areas in the vicinity, including Ram Nagari Colony, continued to face long power cuts until late Thursday night. Power engineers attributed the problem to overload and assured continuous monitoring.
On Tuesday night, residents in areas such as Sultanganj, Khajurbanna, Dargah Road, Majaria Office, New Azimabad Colony, Katra School, and nearby locations in the Gulzarbagh division experienced power outages every 10 to 30 minutes. Despite multiple complaints, the situation remained unresolved. Additionally, the 11 KV feeder serving Gola Road experienced tripping due to overload.
