Patna: Amid a rising number of passengers at Patna Junction, one of Bihar’s busiest railway stations, Indian Railways has initiated plans to replace the current ticket house with two new facilities to better serve commuters. The move comes as daily ticket sales at the station range from 50,000 to 100,000, highlighting the urgent need for upgraded infrastructure.

One new ticket house will be constructed near the parcel office, while the second will be established near Mithapur. The existing ticket house will only be demolished once alternative arrangements are in place, according to railway officials. The overhaul also includes the construction of two new foot overbridges to streamline passenger movement across the station.

Additionally, the area from Gate Number One to the Mithapur foot overbridge will be freed up after demolition, paving the way for a significantly expanded parking zone. Work on this new parking facility is already progressing rapidly and is expected to improve access and reduce congestion in and around the station.
