New Traffic Plan for Patna Junction to Ease Congestion, Autos Rerouted

Patna: To further alleviate traffic pressure and reduce congestion in and around Patna Junction, a new traffic plan has been issued and will come into effect from today (Tuesday). This revised plan introduces several key changes aimed at streamlining vehicle movement, particularly for autos and e-rickshaws.
Under the new regulations, autos and e-rickshaws will no longer be permitted to travel from Kotwali towards Dakbungalow. Instead, all such vehicles originating from Kotwali will be rerouted to their destinations via Buddha Marg.
Key Changes in Traffic Flow
The new plan builds upon a previous system implemented on May 12, which successfully reduced vehicle pressure near Fraser Road and GPO Golambar. The current update specifically addresses congestion in the Goriya Toli area, where traffic operation has been challenging.
Here are the detailed changes in the traffic system:
Around Dakbungalow and Fraser Road:
- Autos and e-rickshaws will not run from Kotwali towards Dakbungalow. They must now proceed from Kotwali via Buddha Marg.
- Empty autos and e-rickshaws will be permitted to travel from Dakbungla towards the junction. However, those carrying passengers must continue to use the Kotwali route.
Around GPO:
- Autos and e-rickshaws will not be allowed to proceed to the GPO roundabout.
- Vehicles coming to GPO from R Block will be directed to turn left towards Buddha Marg.
- Empty autos or e-rickshaws will not be allowed to depart from GPO Multi-Modal.
Around Goriya Toli and Karbighiya:
- E-rickshaws arriving from Hajipur, Patna City, Patrakarnagar, and Kankarbagh will be prohibited from proceeding towards Chiraiyatand.
- E-rickshaws coming from Kankarbagh towards the junction will also not be allowed to go to Chiraiyatand.
These measures are expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce bottlenecks in one of Patna’s busiest areas, enhancing convenience for commuters and local businesses.
