Patna Metro Construction Ramps Up Ahead of Monsoon, Says DMRC Advisor
Patna: In a concerted push to accelerate progress before the monsoon, Shri Daljeet Singh, Advisor (Special Works) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), directed the rapid completion of ongoing construction for the Patna Metro Rail Project. Singh conducted a comprehensive inspection of various construction sites and emphasized the need for pre-monsoon preparations across all metro stations.
During his visit, Singh inspected civil, electrical, and track-related works at several key locations, including Malahi Pakadi, Cut and Cover, Bhootnath Road, ISBT Depot, Bihar Museum, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, and Moin Ul Haq Stadium Metro Station. He instructed the metro officials to expedite construction activities, particularly before the onset of the monsoon season.
At Malahi Pakadi, Singh highlighted the urgency of addressing encroachment issues and completing the pending pier work. He stressed the importance of ground development tasks at Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and ISBT Depot Metro Stations, which include repairing footpaths and constructing access ramps for lifts. Singh also prioritized the completion of entry and exit points and the finishing work of all stations.
Coordination with the Road Construction Department (RCD) was advised for the Badshahi drain near ISBT Depot to speed up metro construction in the area. The construction agency was also instructed to install proper lighting arrangements at the depot, including high mast lights, and to expedite the RSS work.
For the Bihar Museum site, Singh directed the completion of the roof slab construction before the monsoon. At Akashvani Metro Station, he emphasized the need to repair adjacent roads to ease public commuting. Similarly, at PMCH, he ordered proper barricading and clear demarcation of entry and exit points. At Patna University, Singh inspected the TBM-1 drive and site setup, instructing the re-launch of TBM-2 and the commencement of mining work before the monsoon.
Singh reiterated the DMRC’s commitment to ensuring minimal inconvenience to the public while maintaining high standards of quality and safety around metro construction sites. He emphasized repairing footpaths and roads around these sites to facilitate smooth commuting. He also directed DMRC officials to ensure that contractors remove encroachments, provide parallel road arrangements to alleviate traffic jams, maintain cleanliness, and offer proper pedestrian zebra crossing facilities where construction has altered routes.
In addition to inspecting the progress of the Patna Metro works, Singh reviewed the facilities available for metro staff and workers, including bathrooms, rest areas, and canteens, to ensure their well-being.
