Patna Municipal Corporation Cracks Down on Property Tax Defaulters
Patna: In a bid to raise awareness among the public regarding property tax payments, Patna Municipal Corporation has launched a relentless campaign. However, despite these efforts, numerous defaulters remain delinquent in fulfilling their obligations. As part of an intensified initiative, the corporation plans to specially identify buildings and houses owned by defaulters.
Teams from the Patna Municipal Corporation have meticulously surveyed each ward to pinpoint properties whose owners persistently neglect tax payments despite repeated notices. Notably, between February 24th and 29th, a concerted effort will be made to identify and take action against all defaulting properties.
Property Tax Payments Available on Sundays and Holidays
In a move to enhance accessibility for residents, all counters at the Patna Municipal Corporation will operate on Sundays, allowing individuals to settle their property taxes even on holidays. This service will be available every Sunday and on general holidays until March 31, 2024, providing added convenience for taxpayers.
Sealing of Properties for Non-Payment
Under the Bihar Municipal Act of 2007 and the Bihar Municipal Property Tax (Assessment, Collection, and Recovery) Rules of 2013, property owners are mandated to timely settle their tax dues. Failure to comply could lead to various actions, including the issuance of demand letters, cessation of corporation services, and the attachment and sale of properties, both movable and immovable.
