Patna Municipal Corporation Launches Anti-Dengue Drive: Larvicide Sprayed on Rooftops, Gutters and Water Pots

Patna: In an aggressive pre-monsoon campaign, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a comprehensive anti-larvae drive across the city to curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. What sets this year’s operation apart is the Corporation’s decision to go beyond the usual street-level fogging. Under fresh instructions from the Municipal Commissioner, teams are now climbing rooftops, inspecting flower pots, and spraying insecticide in overlooked spaces like water-collecting tyres and boxes – known breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

The PMC has mapped all city wards and deployed teams as per a strict roster system, ensuring no area is missed. The drive is being carried out proactively, before the arrival of the monsoon, in a bid to prevent mosquito breeding at the source. In addition to routine spraying, apartments and residential terraces are also being covered this year. The Commissioner has stressed the importance of reaching into homes, urging residents to cooperate with Corporation workers and maintain cleanliness in water-prone areas such as pots, coolers, and air-conditioners.
To ensure accountability and efficiency, the PMC headquarters is conducting random verifications through phone calls and surprise visits. Citizens whose numbers are listed in the team logbooks are being contacted to confirm whether the spraying has actually been done at their location. This unique monitoring method ensures real-time feedback and builds public trust. For complaints and suggestions, residents can reach the Corporation via helpline number 155305.
