Patna Municipal Corporation Launches Swachhta League to Promote Cleanliness Through Sports

Patna: In a pioneering effort to foster a Garbage Free City (GFC), the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to kick off the Patna Swachhta League as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2023 initiative. The event, scheduled to commence at 5 pm on Saturday, will take place at the newly constructed cricket and badminton court beneath the flyover in R Block.

Recently inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, this space marks a unique initiative by the PMC to utilize underutilized areas and promote cleanliness through sports.

For the first time, the PMC is employing sports as a means to convey the message of cleanliness to the general public, blending recreation with the promotion of a cleaner environment.

The cricket and badminton matches will feature teams comprised of councilors, municipal corporation officers, personnel from Patna Smart City Limited, media representatives, and sweepers. The matches, involving a total of six teams, are designed to engage diverse stakeholders in the initiative.
