Patna: Panic gripped a public park in Patna’s Kankarbagh area in evening after several rounds of gunfire were reported, prompting people to flee for safety. Eyewitnesses said two men on a scooter opened fire inside the F Sector Park around 6.30pm, disrupting the routine of evening walkers and leaving the area deserted within minutes.

According to initial reports, the assailants fired between five to six rounds before fleeing the scene. In the chaos, they abandoned their pistol inside the park, which was later recovered by police.

“The men arrived on a scooty, entered the park and suddenly began firing. At first no one understood what was happening, but as soon as people realised, there was panic and shouting,” said a local resident who witnessed the incident.

Officers from Kankarbagh police station arrived at the location after the suspects had already escaped. Bullet shells were found at the site and an investigation is now underway. Police have increased their presence in the area as they work to identify and apprehend the attackers.
