Patna Prepares for BPSC Re-Examination with Emphasis on Fairness and Security
Patna: The Patna district administration has announced stringent measures to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the Bihar Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) re-examination for the Integrated 70th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination. Scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2025, the exam will be held in a single shift across 22 centers in the district.
During a joint briefing held at the New Collectorate Building, District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Avakash Kumar underscored their commitment to a cheating-free and peaceful examination process. They emphasized that sufficient arrangements, including the deployment of magistrates, police officers, and flying squads, have been made to uphold the sanctity of the exam.
Strict Measures and Deployment
The administration has stationed 24 static magistrates-cum-observers, 22 zonal magistrates, and seven flying squads across examination centers. Additionally, 14 reserve magistrates will remain on standby at the district control room. The DM and SSP reiterated that anti-social elements and crowding around examination centers would not be tolerated, warning that violators would face strict legal action under the Bihar Examination Conduct Act, 1981.
Dr. Singh said the law provides for severe penalties against candidates found indulging in malpractice, including disqualification from the exam and a ban on appearing in future BPSC examinations.
Key Instructions for Candidates
Candidates are required to download their admit cards from the official BPSC website, as only these will be accepted at the examination centers. Entry will be allowed between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM, with no late arrivals permitted. Invigilators will frisk candidates before they enter the examination halls to ensure compliance with the rules.
The use of electronic devices, including mobile phones, Bluetooth gadgets, Wi-Fi-enabled items, and smartwatches, is strictly prohibited. Other banned items include whiteners, blades, and erasers. Violators risk immediate disqualification and further punitive action.
Security and Oversight
To maintain law and order, police officers and armed personnel will be deployed alongside the designated magistrates. Examination personnel are prohibited from carrying smartphones, with only keypad phones permitted for center superintendents.
Control rooms have been set up for the event, including a 24×7 district control room and a dedicated BPSC helpline, to handle any issues arising during the examination.
Sub-divisional magistrates will enforce prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Code, 2023, to prevent disturbances around the centers. Officials will conduct on-ground inspections throughout the exam period to ensure adherence to guidelines.
A Matter of Prestige
Speaking at the briefing, Dr. Singh and Mr. Kumar emphasized the significance of the examination, calling it a “prestigious event” for the state. They urged all officials to ensure the examination meets the highest standards of fairness and efficiency.
“This examination is not only about selecting candidates but also about upholding the reputation of the state’s recruitment process,” Dr. Singh said.
The administration remains steadfast in its commitment to conducting a smooth and transparent examination, reflecting the values of fairness and accountability.
