Patna Railway Stations to Monitor Cleanliness Through CCTV Cameras
Patna: The East Central Railway has initiated a new system to monitor cleanliness at major railway stations, including Patna Junction, Danapur, and others, using CCTV cameras. This initiative aims to improve sanitation facilities for passengers.
Patna Junction itself is currently monitored by 147 CCTV cameras strategically placed across various locations, including parking areas, station premises, platforms, and waiting halls, primarily for security purposes.
The existing CCTV infrastructure at Patna Junction will be utilized to monitor cleanliness, with enhancements made to the monitoring system. The CCTV control room is located on the first floor of the building on platform number one, with personnel on duty 24 hours a day.
Now, this monitoring will be extended to other key stations within the East Central Railway, including Patliputra, Danapur Station, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Patna Sahib. Health officers from all five railway divisions of the East Central Railway will oversee platform cleanliness and water washing through the CCTV feeds.
Monitoring Process
The monitoring process will involve using CCTV cameras to observe both those who litter and the cleaning staff. A designated railway employee will be responsible for overseeing the cleaning operations. Real-time monitoring will track when cleaning activities are performed, and action will be taken if the work does not meet the established standards for any platform.
High-quality cameras will be installed on platforms and station premises specifically for cleanliness monitoring. The system will also be used to verify whether deployed cleaning staff are performing their duties effectively.
Expansion of CCTV Surveillance
A survey has commenced at major stations within the Danapur, Dhanbad, Samastipur, DDU, and Sonpur Railway Divisions of the East Central Railway to centralize CCTV camera monitoring directly from the Railway Division headquarters.
Within the Danapur Railway Division, this centralized monitoring will be implemented at A1 and A category stations, including Danapur Station, Patliputra Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patna Junction, Patna Sahib, Ara, Buxar, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama, Jamui, and Kiul. This expansion aims to create a more efficient and comprehensive system for maintaining cleanliness and security across the railway network.
