Patna Schools Restricted to 9am-4pm Timings Due to Biting Cold

Icy cold winter

Patna: Patna district magistrate Dr Chandra Shekhar Singh has issued an order restricting school hours in response to the biting cold weather affecting the district. Academic activities in all private and government schools, including Aanganwadi centres and pre-schools, are prohibited before 9am and after 4pm from January 2 to January 6, 2025.

The directive, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), aims to safeguard the health and wellbeing of children during the harsh morning and evening conditions.

The district administration has instructed schools to reschedule their timings accordingly. However, special classes and examinations for pre-board and board students have been exempted from the restrictions.

This decision comes as the region continues to experience plummeting temperatures, posing risks to public health, especially for schoolchildren. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure compliance with the order.
