Patna Secures Victory in State Level School Girls Athletics Competition
Patna: Patna emerged triumphant in the State Level (Inter District) School Girls Athletics Competition, claiming the overall title with an impressive score of 60 points. West Champaran secured the second position with a total of 35 points in this fiercely contested event.
Under the collaborative efforts of the Art, Culture, and Youth Affair Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority, the three-day competition, organized by the District Administration, was held at the Patliputra Sports Complex. The team championship titles were awarded in different age groups, with West Champaran securing victory in the girls under-14 age group (23 points), Patna triumphing in the girls under-17 age group (20 points), and Patna dominating the girls under-19 age group with an impressive 38 points.
The prize distribution cum closing ceremony, held on Thursday, witnessed the presence of the Chief Guest, Additional Chief Secretary of the Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs Department, Harjot Kaur Bamhrah. She awarded the winning players and, in her address, delved into the significance of sports, outlining various schemes for the players.
Emphasizing the commitment to sports development, she announced plans to establish 50 non-residential training centers for various sports across the state, with the aim of opening one center in every Panchayat in the near future. Players participating in these centers will receive free training, facilities, and monthly scholarships. Bamhra also highlighted the increased honorarium for state trainers, urging players and coaches to play with dedication, assuring full support from the department.
The Additional District Magistrate, Khagesh Chandra Jha, welcomed the chief guest with a plant and symbol, while the vote of thanks was delivered by District Sports Officer, Patna-cum-Organizing Secretary Om Prakash. The program was skillfully conducted by Abhishek Kumar, Senior NIS Instructor.
As the competition concluded, the chief guest ceremoniously lowered the competition flag, marking the formal end of the event. The ceremony was attended by notable personalities such as Arvind Kumar, Director, DRDA, Patna, Sarwar Imam, Sports Expert, Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs Department, Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Director, Directorate of Student and Youth Welfare, Rajendra Kumar, Sports Executive, Bihar State Sports Authority, and Arun Kumar Sinha, Stadium Manager, Moin- Ul- Haq Stadium, among others.
