Patna: Patna is set to get a world-class indoor stadium at the Patliputra Sports Complex. The Bihar government has announced that the stadium will be built at a cost of Rs 21.2 crore. The project is being handled by the Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited. Ravindran Shankar, Director General and CEO of the Bihar State Sports Authority, said the stadium will help improve sports facilities in the state.
The indoor stadium will cover an area of around 2,878 square metres. It will include a large wooden-floor hall with a height of 41 feet, suitable for sports like volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, badminton, and boxing. The stadium will also have toilets, changing rooms, warm-up zones, offices, a reception area, and a first-aid centre.
Modern construction methods will be used to build the stadium. It will have a steel structure with insulated roof and wall panels. The design will include features to save energy, such as LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, and eco-friendly cooling systems. The stadium will also have smart lighting, CCTV cameras, UPS backup, and an electrical substation.
All construction work, including testing and design, will be done by the contractor and checked by experts from IIT or NIT. The government hopes that this stadium will help Patna host national and international sports events in the future, and encourage young athletes across Bihar.
