Patna Traffic Police Tightens Control With New Gaighat Post
Patna: Patna’s traffic management is set to receive a significant boost with the activation of a new traffic police post under Gandhi Setu in Gaighat. The post, which aims to regulate traffic in key congestion-prone areas—including PMCH, Pahadi Mor, NIT Mor, Gaighat, Agamkuan ROB, and Chowk police station—will be fully operational from Monday.
As part of the initiative, traffic violators will face stricter enforcement. Illegally parked vehicles will be seized using cranes, and fines will be imposed. In Patna City, helmetless riders will be penalised, while CCTV surveillance has been deployed in the Gaighat area to monitor traffic flow and ensure compliance with road safety rules.
DSP IV Amit Kumar, who oversees traffic management across six sectors, stated that two sector in-charges would patrol on bikes in both shifts to maintain order. Additionally, 25 police personnel will be stationed at the Gaighat traffic post, with officers deployed at key congestion points, including Chowk, West Gate, Agamkuan, Biscoman, Jagi Ganga Path, Gaighat, Tripolia, and Mahendru Gandhi Chowk.
The traffic police will also crack down on speeding vehicles and biker gangs on JP Ganga Path, with measures in place to reduce accident risks. In a bid to enhance surveillance, a proposal has been sent to the Municipal Corporation under the Smart City initiative to install CCTV cameras at 40 entry and exit points across the city.
