Patna Women’s College Celebrates International Day of Yoga
Patna: The Department of Philosophy at Patna Women’s College (PWC) marked the International Day of Yoga on Friday with an event at the college’s Yoga Centre. Under the guidance of Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal of PWC, and Dr. Ameeta Jaiswal, Head of the Department of Philosophy, the event was held in collaboration with the Prajapita Brahmkumaris Iswariya Vishwa Vidyalay, focusing on the theme “Yoga for Women Empowerment.”
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Ameeta Jaiswal, who highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and the significance of the International Day of Yoga. Following this, yoga instructor Mitu Kumari led the attendees through various asanas, including Kasth Takshanashan, Surya Namaskar, and Ardh Ustrashan, in accordance with the yoga protocol.
A session on Raj Yoga meditation was conducted by Brahmkumari B.K. Mridula and her team, who discussed the existence of the soul and techniques to focus on inner light and maintain a positive outlook.
The event saw the participation of 50 students and 20 staff members, who found the session beneficial for their mental and physical relaxation and well-being. Faculty members in attendance included Sister Jincy, Sister Gracy, Sister Anna, Dr. Vinita Priyedarshi, Dr. Kumkum, and Dr. Sumit Ranjan.
