Patna Women’s College Hosts ‘Kalashari 2025’ to Celebrate Bihar’s Folk Arts

Patna : The Srijan Club of Patna Women’s College, in collaboration with the Department of Fashion Designing, marked Bihar Diwas with ‘Kalashari 2025,’ a live demonstration and workshop highlighting the state’s rich folk art traditions. Held under the theme “Unnat Bihar – Viksit Bihar” (Progressive Bihar – Developed Bihar), the event provided a platform to explore and preserve indigenous crafts.

The workshop featured an array of Bihar’s traditional folk arts, including Madhubani painting, Tikuli art, Gudiya making, Paper Mache, Bhojpuri painting, Manjusha painting, Terracotta work, Kashidakari, Sikki craft, Lacquered art, Appliqué work, and Sujni embroidery. Sixty students took part, engaging enthusiastically in the hands-on sessions while refining their artistic skills.

The event was inaugurated by the college’s principal, Dr Sister M Rashmi AC, who lit the ceremonial lamp and lauded the students for their commitment to keeping Bihar’s artistic heritage alive. The workshop was led by Dr Shemushi Madhu, Head of the Department of Fashion Designing, and Ms Geetanjali Choudhary, In-charge of the Srijan Club and Coordinator of the Department of Fashion Designing. Faculty members, including Ms Asha Pandey, Ms Priyanka Singh, Dr Purnima Roy, and Ms Vandana Sinha, mentored the students throughout the event. The proceedings were moderated by Shreya Bhushan, Joint General Secretary of the Student Council (2024-25) and President of the Srijan Club.
