Patna Women’s College Hosts Road Safety and Emergency Response Training to Promote Public Awareness

Patna : Patna Women’s College recently organised a Road Safety Awareness and Pre-Hospital Training Programme aimed at equipping participants with essential knowledge of road safety and first-aid procedures. The event, attended by over 500 students from various departments, brought together experts, faculty members, and students to foster a sense of responsibility and promote emergency preparedness.
The session was inaugurated by Dr Ashish Kumar, Nodal Officer at Patna Women’s College, who underscored that road safety extends beyond adhering to traffic rules. “It’s about protecting lives — our own and those of others around us. Many accidents that occur daily could be prevented through greater awareness and responsible behaviour,” he remarked. The programme was designed to educate participants on proactive measures to minimise road accidents and equip them with the skills necessary to provide life-saving assistance in emergencies.
A significant highlight of the event was the presence of Amlendu Jha, Master Trainer of Community Traffic Police, and Alok, DSP, Patna Traffic Police. Both experts delivered insightful talks on emergency response strategies, life-saving techniques, and the importance of pre-hospital care. They emphasised the significance of the ‘golden hour’ — the critical period immediately after an accident when timely intervention can make the difference between life and death.
Participants were actively involved in interactive discussions and practical training sessions, where they learned vital skills such as CPR, bleeding control, and other essential first-aid techniques. These hands-on demonstrations aimed to instil confidence and readiness among attendees, empowering them to respond effectively in emergency situations.
The programme also reinforced the importance of community involvement in ensuring road safety. Attendees were urged to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing accidents, highlighting that road safety is not merely the responsibility of authorities but a shared duty of society.
By the end of the event, participants left with a renewed sense of responsibility towards road safety and emergency response. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Jyotsana Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.
