Patna: A youth who had recently returned home to Patna from Delhi has been found dead, with police suspecting he may have been killed over a relationship.

The body of 18-year-old Rahul Kumar was discovered in a roadside ditch near Bedhna village, under Barh police station limits, in a severely decomposed state. A resident of Ekdanga village, Kumar had gone missing on July 7, a day after arriving from Delhi. His family filed a missing person report at Belchi police station the following day.

According to Kumar’s sister-in-law, Rinku Devi, he was abducted near their home on Sunday, shortly after returning to the village. A local resident claimed to have seen him near the Barh railway gate around 10pm on Monday night, suggesting he had been travelling to nearby Sitapur, just 200 metres away, when he vanished.

Barh ASP Rakesh Kumar said that initial investigations indicate a possible romantic link involving a girl. Mobile phone records point to a connection with Sheikhpura district. “It appears to be a case of murder. Legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered,” he said.
