Patna Zoo Hosts Environmental and Cleanliness Campaigns Led by Minister Prem Kumar
Patna: Dr. Prem Kumar, Bihar’s Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, spearheaded the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and “Swachhta Pakhwada” campaigns at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, popularly known as Patna Zoo, on Saturday. During the event, he personally cleaned and removed weeds around a tree planted in memory of his mother. In addition, a sanitary pad vending machine and a bamboo dustbin were installed in the ladies’ washroom near gate number- 2 by the Minister and the local head of BPCL.
The event featured the inauguration of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” stall and the launch of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” mobile vehicle campaign. As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada activities, the zoo premises underwent a cleanliness inspection, and a zero-plastic drive was observed. A street play themed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was also performed at Zoo Railway Station, creatively promoting the campaign.
The Minister further inaugurated the Swachhta Pakhwada at BPCL, where officials were honoured with shawls and mementos. Key attendees included Ajay Kumar Mishra, Manish Kumar, Ramesh Meena, Vijay Negi, Kaushal Chauhan, and Nitish Bharti from BPCL, alongside Satyajit Kumar, Director of Patna Zoo, Shashi Bhushan Prasad, Deputy Director, Anand Kumar, Field Officer of Forests, Animal Farm, Arvind Kumar Verma, Field Officer of Forests, Botanical Farm, and Arif, Biologist at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, among others.
