Patna’s Ganga Driveway and Rohtas’s Tutla Bhawani to Get Eco-Tourism Boost Under New Development Plans

Patna: A recent meeting chaired by Dr Prem Kumar, the Minister of the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, discussed plans to enhance eco-tourism and develop iconic parks throughout the state. The review was attended by key officials from environment and forest department, including the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and other senior officers.
The meeting outlined a series of initiatives to promote eco-tourism and create sustainable green spaces in Bihar. Forest division officers were instructed to compile a list of iconic parks in each district, to develop at least one large-scale park in every district. The sites for these parks will be selected in consultation with district administrations.
In addition to the district-wide park development, the government is also focusing on the improvement of Patna’s Marine Drive (JP Ganga Path). A proposal for tree planting and chain fencing along a 4-5 kilometre stretch will be drafted as part of this initiative.
Dr Kumar directed officials to secure funding for eco-tourism projects under existing schemes and explore additional financial support from international bodies like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Furthermore, efforts will be made to hire consultants to develop smaller eco-tourism sites with significant potential for attracting visitors. Among the notable locations earmarked for development are Kandi-Nawada in Gaya, Tutla Bhawani in Rohtas, and Garhi Dam in Jamui, alongside a variety of waterfalls, lakes, and wildlife sanctuaries across the state.
