Motihari: As Bihar prepares to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Motihari on July 18, a distinctive gesture by renowned sand artist Madhurendra Kumar is capturing attention across the state.
Ahead of Modi’s visit—during which he is expected to announce several development projects—Madhurendra has crafted a striking one-foot statue of the Prime Minister using the fragrant soil of Bihar. The statue, which took 10 hours to complete, features the message: “Welcome to Bihar Modi Ji.”
Hailing from Champaran, the land associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s satyagraha, Madhurendra is internationally acclaimed for his work and has a history of commemorating the Prime Minister’s visits with creative tributes. “There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in Bihar. Every time Modi ji comes, he brings something for the people. This statue is a symbol of our heartfelt welcome,” he told reporters.
Images of the sculpture have gone viral on social media, with many praising the blend of art and regional pride. Over the years, Madhurendra has used everything from Peepal leaves to grains of sand to depict Modi, but this time, he chose Bihar’s sacred earth to mark the occasion.
Prime Minister Modi will address a public rally at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari, with both administrative and party preparations now in their final stages.
