Patna: In a rare unscheduled detour during his 50th visit to Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening made a surprise appearance at the engagement ceremony of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s son in Patna, extending personal blessings to the family in what BJP leaders called a “deeply emotional and proud moment.”
After concluding a 70-minute closed-door meeting with party leaders at the BJP state headquarters, PM Modi skipped a direct drive to the Raj Bhavan and instead headed to Sinha’s official residence at 3 Strand Road to attend the ring ceremony of his son Govind Bhardwaj. Senior ministers from the Bihar government also accompanied the Prime Minister.

In a social media post following the visit, Deputy CM Sinha expressed his gratitude and emotion, writing, “The affectionate blessings and presence of the most respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi… is an unforgettable moment for all of us workers. He lovingly blessed Govind and Shambhavi and wished them a good start to their new life.”
The surprise gesture came at the end of a high-profile day during which PM Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Patna’s Jayprakash Narayan International Airport and laid the foundation stone for a civil enclave at Bihta Airbase. With projects totalling over Rs 50,000 crore launched during the visit, the Prime Minister also marked a milestone—his 50th trip to Bihar since taking office in 2014.
After the brief engagement at Sinha’s residence, the Prime Minister proceeded to Raj Bhavan where he was welcomed by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan with a bouquet. PM Modi is scheduled to address a public rally in Rohtas district’s Bikramganj on Friday, continuing his campaign and development-focused outreach in the state.
