PM Modi to lay foundation stone for new terminal at Darbhanga Airport: MP Gopal Ji Thakur
Darbhanga: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for a new terminal building at Darbhanga Airport on September 26. The terminal, which will be built on a 53-acre site at a cost of Rs. 912 crore, is expected to significantly enhance the airport’s capacity. The foundation stone will be laid via video conferencing from Delhi.
The project, which aims to be completed within two years, was discussed in a review meeting held by local MP Dr Gopal Ji Thakur with officials from Darbhanga Airport. Speaking on the significance of the terminal, Dr Thakur emphasised its importance for the Mithila region, stating that it will elevate Darbhanga Airport to a “grand form” and serve as a symbol of Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to regional development.
Dr Thakur described the airport’s expansion as a major milestone for Mithila, expressing that the Prime Minister’s dedication has turned the dream of air travel for ordinary citizens into a reality. He hailed the foundation stone ceremony as a joyous occasion for the people of the region, marking progress in Darbhanga’s transformation under Modi’s leadership.
The airport’s development is seen as a vital step towards enhancing connectivity and promoting economic growth in the area. Airport Director Parth Saha also attended the meeting, underscoring the significance of the upcoming project for the region.
