Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to roll out a major development push in Bihar on Friday, with the foundation stones and inaugurations of 22 high-impact projects from the district of Siwan. Among the headline announcements is a significant boost to the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Urban), with the first installment being directly transferred to the bank accounts of 53,666 beneficiaries. This installment, totalling Rs 51,000 crore, is part of the government’s ongoing mission to provide housing for the economically weaker sections of society.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, in a press briefing, said the state is witnessing the fruits of Modi’s confidence in the Nitish Kumar-led development model. “The central government has opened its treasury for Bihar,” Chaudhary declared, while also highlighting that the NDA government’s welfare schemes do not discriminate based on caste or religion. As part of the same initiative, 6,684 families will also receive keys to their newly completed homes, marking their formal housewarming under the scheme.
In addition to the housing push, the Prime Minister will also launch another Vande Bharat Express, which will run between Patna’s Pataliputra Junction and Gorakhpur. This new train service is expected to enhance regional connectivity and boost both tourism and commerce. Modi will further lay the foundation stones of 11 Amrit Bharat stations and 4 Namami Gange projects, involving a combined expenditure of Rs 2,997 crore.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Vaishali–Deoria railway section, which is seen as another critical infrastructure milestone. Responding to political criticism surrounding the PM’s visit, Samrat Chaudhary called the opposition’s remarks a reflection of “frustration”, urging leaders to support development rather than engage in negativity. “We are building homes, railways, and better futures — not slogans,” he added.
