PMC Intensifies Cleanliness Drive Ahead of Swachh Survey 2025
Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is ramping up efforts to improve its performance in the upcoming Swachh Survey 2025. On Monday, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar convened a special meeting at Ganga Path No. 93 Ghat, issuing specific guidelines to employees to bolster cleanliness initiatives across the city.
As part of the ongoing campaign, the PMC has successfully eliminated 658 garbage vulnerable points (GVPs) that had remained neglected for years, transforming them into beautified spaces. To celebrate this achievement and raise public awareness about cleanliness, cake-cutting ceremonies are being organized at these sites in all city wards.
Starting January 30, which marks Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, PMC will relaunch cleanliness awareness programs at former GVP sites. Separate funding will be allocated to each ward for these activities.
Key Highlights of the Cleanliness Drive
- Program Launch: Cleanliness awareness initiatives will commence on January 30.
- Sector-Wide Programs: A total of 375 programs will be conducted across 375 sectors.
- Zone-Wise Coverage: All 19 zones will be covered in a single day, led by executive officers, city managers, and CSIs.
- Cake-Cutting Ceremonies: Hardworking sanitation workers will lead the celebrations, taking a collective resolution to prevent GVPs from reappearing.
Focus on Ganga Ghats
Special emphasis has been placed on maintaining cleanliness at Ganga Ghats, which are crucial for scoring in the Swachh Survey. The Municipal Commissioner issued the following directives:
- Daily cleaning of Ganga Ghats to be ensured.
- Designated areas for immersion activities to be clearly marked.
- Daily reports on Ghat cleanliness to be collected via walkie-talkie and reviewed at the Municipal Corporation Control Room.
Identifying “Shehar Shatru”
To sustain the city’s cleanliness, PMC teams will not only raise awareness but also take strict action against individuals or groups responsible for littering. Penalties will be imposed on those found violating cleanliness norms.
The meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Executive Officers of all six zones, Executive Engineers, City Managers, Sanitation Officers, and other PMC staff.
With these intensified efforts, the PMC aims to secure a higher ranking in the Swachh Survey 2025 while fostering greater public participation in keeping the city clean and green.
