Patna: A nurse employed at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has been shot dead in Nalanda district, Bihar, in what police believe to be a case linked to a land dispute.

The victim, a resident of Nalanda and a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) professional, was reportedly attacked in her native village, Doiyan, under the jurisdiction of Noorsarai police station. According to early reports, she was shot from behind.

Local police confirmed that an investigation is under way. The victim’s son has alleged that her own brother was responsible for the murder, claiming the motive was a dispute over four bighas of land.

The incident comes just days after the murder of Patna-based land dealer Gopal Khemka, raising fresh concerns about the recent spate of violent crimes tied to property disputes in the state.
