Police in Bihar were attacked with chilli powder, bricks, and stones in three districts, leaving one dead and many injured

Patna: Police teams in three districts of Bihar were attacked over the weekend, creating fear and chaos. In Shahpur area of Ara, the Excise Department team went to raid Ward No. 3 on Sunday evening after getting information about illegal liquor. But as soon as the team reached there, local smugglers started throwing bricks and stones at them. To control the situation, the excise team fired bullets, in which a man named Sushil Yadav, aged 45, died, and another man, Uttam Yadav, was injured in his leg.

After the firing, angry family members of the deceased blocked the road near Shahpur police station, demanding justice. It was also reported that the excise jawan who fired the bullet was held hostage by the victim’s family. Shahpur police station in-charge Kumar Rajnikant and his team had to deploy a large force to rescue the jawan from the house.

In another incident, a fight over drain construction turned violent in Pakribarawan area of Nawada district on Saturday night. When the Dial 112 police team reached there to control the fight, anti-social people attacked them with chilli powder, bricks, and even fruit ripening chemicals. Six policemen, including ASI Shyam Kumar Mishra and driver Kunal Goswami, were injured. Female constable Zaida Parveen’s condition became serious after chilli powder went into her eyes. Police later arrested 30 people, including three women.

A similar attack happened in Tadhavanandpur Panchayat under Bairia police station. When the 112 team went to stop a fight between two groups, both sides started throwing bricks and stones. An officer was injured in the attack. By the time more police arrived, the attackers had run away. These back-to-back attacks on police teams show the growing danger for law enforcement in Bihar.
