Police Will Return Fire if Criminals Draw Guns, Warns ADG Kundan Krishnan

Patna: Bihar Police has vowed a tough response following the deaths of two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) in attacks by miscreants over the past five days. Addressing a press conference, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Special Task Force (STF) Kundan Krishnan asserted that police officers have full authority to open fire in self-defense if they perceive an imminent threat to their lives.

“If criminals brandish firearms and open fire at the police, the police will retaliate in kind,” Krishnan said. He assured that all those responsible for attacking police personnel would be arrested within a week.

The ADG also presented a report on law and order during Holi, revealing multiple incidents of violence against police officers across the state. Attacks were reported in Araria, Jehanabad, Patna, Munger, and Bhagalpur, with Araria and Munger witnessing the most serious cases, resulting in the deaths of two ASIs. Other incidents occurred in Madhubani, Nawada, and Samastipur.

Krishnan acknowledged that the attackers outnumbered the police in some instances but emphasized that law enforcement officers exercised restraint. He reiterated that police personnel are permitted to use firearms in self-defense and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for targeting law enforcement.
