Patna: A row has erupted in Bihar’s capital after posters bearing images and achievements of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were found defaced in the high-security zone near CM House and Raj Bhavan. Several posters had the Chief Minister’s face painted over with brown colour.
The defaced posters, which carried congratulatory messages and developmental highlights of the Nitish Kumar-led government, were lined up on a wall in the VVIP area. The identity of those responsible remains unknown. Authorities are yet to determine the motive behind the act or whether it was politically driven.
Janata Dal (United) reacted sharply, with national spokesperson Abhishek Mishra calling for a thorough investigation. “CCTV footage will help identify those involved. Painting over Nitish Kumar’s face won’t erase his developmental record. The people of Bihar have unwavering faith in him,” Mishra said.
The incident also drew comments from the BJP. Party spokesperson Kuntal Krishna blamed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), alleging that “RJD goons” were behind the act. “This is not just an attack on a poster, but an attempt to malign Bihar’s progress. RJD cannot tolerate the face of good governance,” he said.
