Power Supply to be Disrupted in Bodhgaya Today for Transformer Upgrade

Bihar Plans Backup Power Lines

Bodhgaya: In view of the rising electricity demand during the ongoing heatwave, the Electricity Department has announced a planned power shutdown in the Bodhgaya Municipal Council area today. The shutdown will be in effect from 8:30 AM to 5 PM at the 80 Feet Power Substation as part of efforts to improve electricity infrastructure.

During this period, the department will upgrade a 5 MVA Power Transformer (PTR) to a 10 MVA PTR, a move aimed at enhancing the capacity to handle the growing load. Officials have informed that the work may extend beyond eight hours, hence the prolonged outage.

Residents Advised to Prepare in Advance

Authorities have advised residents to complete all essential electricity-related tasks and store adequate water ahead of the shutdown. The department has assured that rotational supply through alternative sources will be maintained to minimize disruption.

Upgrade Aimed at Tackling Peak Summer Load

According to Engineer Prem Kumar, the departmental officer overseeing the operation, the transformer upgrade was long overdue. “As summer begins, the electricity load surges sharply, putting stress on the existing infrastructure. With the installation of a 10 MVA PTR, residents will get much-needed relief from frequent power cuts,” he stated.

The enhanced capacity is expected to significantly reduce outages and ensure more stable power supply in the coming weeks.

Appeal for Public Cooperation

The Electricity Department has appealed to the public to avoid using non-essential electrical appliances during the shutdown. It emphasized that the upgrade is part of a broader plan to strengthen the power distribution network in the region and provide reliable and uninterrupted electricity.

Regular updates about the power situation during the outage will be shared by the department through official channels.
