Prashant Kishor ‘Exposes’ Nitish Kumar’s Political Maneuvering: Questions Special Status Demand for Bihar

Prashant Kishor in Darbhanga

PATNA – Prashant Kishor, former poll strategist and Jan Suraj campaign convenor, has brought to light what he sees as the political opportunism of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

Kishor questioned why Kumar raises the issue of special status for Bihar when he is not in power with the BJP, stating, “Why does he sleep covered with a blanket when in alliance with BJP?” According to Kishor, it appears convenient for Kumar to blame the Centre when not in power at the central government.

Recently, Nitish Kumar stirred controversy by calling for a movement to secure special state status for Bihar. Kishor pointed out that during the 15 years Kumar was in alliance with the BJP out of his 18-year tenure as Chief Minister, there is no record of him discussing or advocating for special state status. From 2017 to 2022, the NDA government held power both in Bihar and at the Centre.

Speaking to journalists in Keoti block of Darbhanga, Kishor highlighted the inconsistency within Nitish Kumar’s party. He mentioned that some party leaders may have advocated for special state status in the Parliament, but during that time, they were praising (Narendra) Modi. Kishor emphasized that the people of Bihar have witnessed enough of Nitish Kumar’s political maneuvers and are not likely to fall into the same trap. According to Kishor, this marks the last phase of Nitish Kumar’s political career.
