Prashant Kishor Promises for Dalit Upliftment at Jan Suraaj Workshop in Patna

Patna: During the Jan Suraaj Ambedkar Samvad Workshop held at Bihar Satyagraha Ashram, Prashant Kishor, the architect of Jan Suraaj, made significant announcements aimed at the upliftment of the Dalit community in Bihar. He presented a five-point plan focused on addressing key issues such as education, land rights, employment, and political representation for Dalit families.

Prashant Kishor highlighted that, despite political participation achieved through the efforts of Baba Saheb, a significant portion of the Dalit community continues to face deprivation of basic facilities. Kishor emphasized that improvement does not solely depend on having Dalit representation in the legislature. His vision for Jan Suraaj seeks to bring about tangible changes by fulfilling five promises for the Dalit community once they are in the system.

Among the key promises, Kishor announced that 3 decimal of land would be provided to landless Dalit families, and capital for self-employment would be offered to Dalit youth. Furthermore, Dalit students who pass their 10th standard with more than 50% marks will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 2000 for further studies. The existing Ambedkar hostel will also be renovated to improve accommodation for Dalit students.

Additionally, Jan Suraaj plans to address landlessness by providing government land on lease to Dalits involved in agriculture. Kishor also committed to ensuring Dalit candidates receive tickets for elections on seats with a significant Dalit population, even if those seats are not traditionally reserved. These promises are part of Jan Suraaj’s broader effort to empower Dalit communities and secure their rightful place in society.
