Prashant Kishor Refuses Bail, Continues Fast in Jail Over BPSC Protest

Patna: Prashant Kishor’s fast-unto-death will continue even in jail after he refused to accept bail following his arrest during a protest at Gandhi Maidan. Kishor stated that if raising his voice against the injustice faced by Bihar’s youth is a crime, he is prepared to stay in jail.

Kishor was arrested on Monday morning during his protest against alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Preliminary Examination. The protest, which began on January 2, called for justice for candidates affected by the cancellation of the exam at a Patna center and demanded a fresh examination.

Police forcibly removed Kishor from the site, leading to scuffles with his supporters. He was taken for medical evaluation after the arrest and presented before the Patna Civil Court, which granted him bail on a bond of Rs. 25,000. However, Kishor refused the bail and vowed to continue his protest from jail.

The controversy over the BPSC exam has triggered widespread protests across the state, drawing attention to alleged paper leaks, unfair practices, and police brutality during demonstrations. Calls for transparency and fairness in Bihar’s examination system are growing louder, with political leaders and youth groups rallying behind the affected candidates.
