Prashant Kishore Challenges RJD: ‘Use Your Looted Wealth to Control Party Workers’
Jan Suraj Likely to Contest Bihar By-Elections in Belaganj and Imamganj
Patna: In a press conference, Prashant Kishore, the convenor of the Jan Suraj campaign, addressed accusations of his organization distributing money to connect with people. He emphasized that Jan Suraj is not in power, unlike those who have been governing Bihar and allegedly allowing sand and liquor mafias to thrive over the past 30 years.
Kishore took a sharp dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, accusing them of taking money from mafias and making baseless statements. “Even if we were giving money, you should give more. You have no shortage of funds, having looted Bihar for three decades,” Kishore said.
Targeting RJD chief Lalu Prasad family, Kishore claimed that they had acquired land in exchange for government jobs and built malls for themselves. He suggested that they should at least use that money to control their own party workers.
When asked about an RJD MLA’s comment regarding his title “Pandey,” Kishore dismissed the remarks as beneath his dignity to respond to. He pointed out that whenever Bihar’s political leaders face difficulties, they often turn to him for advice. Recalling the 2015 elections, Kishore mentioned how Lalu used to tell his MLAs that Kishore was the one who guided them on what to say to the media. He criticized the state’s politics, stating that leaders who play on caste and name have kept Bihar trapped in caste-based exploitation.
Regarding Jan Suraj’s participation in the upcoming assembly by-elections in Imamganj and Belaganj, Kishore stated that if the elections are held after October 2, his campaign will contest both seats. However, if the elections take place before October 2, Jan Suraj might support an independent ally if the decision is made collectively by the campaign’s members.
