Punjab Leads Bihar by 127 Runs in Ranji Trophy Match
Patna: In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Punjab and Bihar at the IS Bindra Cricket Stadium in Mohali, Punjab has established a commanding 127-run lead after the second day’s play. Punjab posted a score of 262 for 8 in 75 overs, while Bihar had earlier managed 135 runs in their first innings. Due to poor lighting, the play was called off early, with Punjab firmly in control.
Bihar’s bowlers put up a valiant effort, restricting Punjab’s batsmen from accumulating runs freely. Saqib Hussain was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 92 runs. Captain Veer Pratap Singh and Himanshu Singh each took two wickets, while Sakibul Gani picked up one wicket for 44 runs. Despite regular wickets falling, patient innings from Jaskaranvir Singh Paul (47), Sanvir Singh (47), and Saleel Arora (64) guided Punjab to a total of 262 runs. Jaskaran Singh Paul, who had retired hurt earlier, made a strong comeback, remaining unbeaten on 47 runs at the close of play, with Gurnur Brar supporting him on 17 runs.
Contributions from Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh (30) and Pukhraj Manam (33) added to the team’s total. Despite several breakthroughs, Punjab’s steady batting performance allowed them to extend their lead to 127 runs.
Bihar’s bowlers continued to fight hard, with Veer Pratap Singh and Himanshu Singh taking two wickets each for 37 and 42 runs, respectively. However, Punjab’s strong batting performance has placed Bihar under pressure heading into the next day’s play.
